Salary: $21 per hour ($29.70 after 1,000 hours per current IBEW union contract)
Hours: Shift Dependent
Closing Date: Open till filled

  1. Under the supervision of the Kotzebue Electric Association Plant Foreman the Plant Operator will learn to operate and maintain all generation plant equipment and systems in a manner that will make the most effective use of time and equipment in maintaining and operating all associated generation facilities.
  2. Will be trained to perform maintenance on all equipment in the plant to assure reliability of all equipment and systems. Informs the Kotzebue Electric Association Plant Foreman of equipment problems and works to make the necessary correction of all such problems. Will help with repairs, rebuilds, services as required all engines, electrical, buildings, and plant systems etc.
  3. Will clean and maintain the appearance of the power plant, plant office, and grounds.
  4. Will coordinate with Kotzebue Electric Association Plant Foreman to complete required training. Is available to travel for training for operations and safety if needed.
  5. Is directly responsible for their own personal safety, and that of their fellow workers. Ensures that safe work practices and safety rules are followed.
  6. Work shifts will be changing monthly.
  7. Other duties as assigned.

Job Related Qualifications

High School Graduate or GED, 1-2 years heavy diesel experience preferred or some related mechanic and construction work experience needed, familiar with computer equipment, and ability to work without supervision. A valid Alaska driver’s license is required.
